90 Days in Hua Hin: A Guide to Relaxation & Local Eats

Our 90-Day Stay in Hua Hin, Thailand: A Perfect Mix of Relaxation and Adventure

Hua Hin, Thailand, is a destination that offers a unique blend of relaxation, adventure, and culture. Our 90-day stay here was an unforgettable experience, filled with great food, beautiful beaches, and unforgettable memories. From staying in a comfortable villa at Belvida Estates to exploring the town’s local eateries, we couldn’t have asked for a better home base as we made our way through this charming coastal town. Here’s a look at our time in Hua Hin and why we loved it so much.

Belvida Estates: Our Comfortable Home Away from Home

We stayed in a beautiful two-bedroom villa at Belvida Estates, a peaceful and secure community just minutes away from all the action in Hua Hin. For $935 per month, we could have found a much less expensive place, but the landscaping, amenities, and overall comfort of the community were exactly what we were looking for. It wasn’t just about having a roof over our heads—it was about having a place that felt like home, where we could relax after a busy day of exploring.

The villa itself was spacious, modern, and bright, with large windows that let in natural light and plenty of room to spread out. But what truly made Belvida Estates stand out were the beautiful gardens and lush landscaping that surrounded us. Every time we stepped outside, we were greeted by vibrant flowers, neatly manicured lawns, and towering trees, making the whole environment feel peaceful and serene.

Gated security gave us peace of mind, and the staff were always friendly and welcoming. It was clear that this was a community that valued both comfort and safety. Plus, the pools scattered throughout the neighborhood were the perfect place to unwind after a busy day, offering a quiet, refreshing escape with plenty of tropical greenery surrounding the water.

Our Favorite Places to Eat in Hua Hin

Over the course of our three-month stay, we discovered some incredible places to eat. Hua Hin has a vibrant food scene that ranges from traditional Thai street food to international cuisine, and we made it our mission to explore as many options as possible. Here’s a look at some of the highlights:

  • The Good Baker: This bakery became a regular stop for us. Whether it was a freshly baked croissant, a savory sandwich, or a sweet pastry, The Good Baker was always on point. Their coffee was just as great, making it the perfect place for breakfast or a mid-day pick-me-up.
  • Hua Hin Vegan: For a healthier, plant-based meal, Hua Hin Vegan was a must-visit. Their vegan Thai dishes—flavorful curries, fresh salads, and smoothies—were some of the best we had. It was a great spot for a nourishing, satisfying meal that left us feeling energized and ready for the day ahead.
  • Tamarind Market: This lively night market was one of our favorite spots to explore. With food stalls offering everything from grilled seafood to fried rice, and a buzzing atmosphere to match, it was the perfect place to spend an evening. We often found ourselves wandering through the market, sampling new dishes, and enjoying the local flavors.
  • Gourmet Market in Blueport Mall: When we wanted something a bit more upscale, we’d head to the Gourmet Market in Blueport Mall. It offered a variety of fresh, high-quality ingredients and prepared meals from all around the world. It was our go-to for picking up specialty ingredients or grabbing a quick and delicious meal.
  • House of Croissant: If you love pastries, House of Croissant is a must-try. Their croissants were buttery, flaky, and perfect in every way. We could always count on them for a satisfying breakfast or snack.

We didn’t just stick to Thai food; we also found excellent IndianItalian, and Japanese restaurants around town, all offering flavorful dishes that helped satisfy our cravings. What really stood out at all of these places was the incredible staff. They not only knew our orders after a few visits but were also genuinely friendly, offering helpful tips and recommendations about the local area. Breakfast at our favorite spots averaged $10-$12 for the two of us, including a couple of lattes—a great deal for the quality of food and service we received.

The Beaches: Hua Hin’s Coastal Charm

Hua Hin is known for its beautiful beaches, and we were lucky enough to be just a short distance from the coast. The beaches were perfect for lounging, swimming, or taking peaceful walks along the shore. Khao Takiab Beach and Suan Son Pradipat Beach were two of our favorites, offering stunning views and uncrowded spaces to relax.

What we loved about the beaches in Hua Hin was how quickly accessible they were. We could easily hop in the car and be at a beach in just a few minutes. Whether it was a morning walk by the water or a late afternoon swim, the beaches offered the perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of daily life.

Staying Active: Arena Hua Hin Gym

We made sure to keep up with our fitness routines during our stay, and Arena Hua Hin Gym was the perfect place to do that. This gym had all the amenities we needed—from cardio machines and free weights to group fitness classes and resistance training equipment. It became a regular part of our routine after our morning walk with Bennie, our dog. The gym was modern, clean, and well-equipped, making it easy to maintain our fitness goals while enjoying everything Hua Hin had to offer.

A Day in the Life: Our Daily Routine

Our typical day in Hua Hin followed a comfortable and relaxing routine. We started each day early, enjoying the sunriseand taking Bennie for his morning walk around the neighborhood. Afterward, we would head to Arena Hua Hin Gymfor a weightlifting session, followed by a delicious breakfast at one of our favorite spots—The Good BakerHouse of Croissant, or Gourmet Market.

After breakfast, we’d either explore the area or take a short drive to a nearby winery or beach. On some days, we’d catch the bus to Bangkok for a quick trip to the city or a flight to Malaysia. Having a car meant we could easily venture out and discover new spots, while taking the bus gave us the chance to visit Bangkok without the hassle of driving.

Whenever we traveled, we knew that Bennie was in good hands at Dog Smile, a pet boarding service that took amazing care of him while we were away. Whether it was for a day trip or a longer journey, we always felt comfortable leaving him there, knowing he was well looked after.

The Heart of Thailand: Kindness Everywhere

What stood out most about Hua Hin, and Thailand as a whole, was the incredible kindness and friendliness of the people. Whether it was in restaurants, shops, or just out and about, we were constantly amazed by the warmth of the locals. People were genuinely kind, offering help without expecting anything in return. In a world where kindness often comes with strings attached, it was refreshing to experience such selfless generosity. This was one of the most special aspects of our time in Hua Hin and something we’ll always remember. The kindness of the Thai people truly made our stay unforgettable.

Hua Hin: The Ideal Location for a Peaceful Lifestyle

What we also realized about Hua Hin is that it’s the kind of city that offers the best of both worlds. It’s ideal for people who don’t want the hustle and bustle of a big city but still want access to all the amenities and activities that come with city living. Families with school-aged children would feel right at home here, with the relaxed atmosphere and proximity to everything you need. Retirees looking for a place to settle down and enjoy a slower pace of life would also thrive in this welcoming community.

That said, the biggest drawback for us was the airport situation. While Hua Hin does have an airport, it’s not a major international hub. The two major airports in Bangkok are about a three-hour drive away, which could be a bit of a hassle for frequent travelers. Despite this, the peaceful lifestyle and community atmosphere more than made up for it.

Final Thoughts: A Truly Memorable Stay

Our 90 days in Hua Hin were the perfect mix of relaxation, adventure, and discovery. From the comfort of our villa at Belvida Estates to the fantastic food, beautiful beaches, and great people we met along the way, every day felt like a gift. Hua Hin offers a peaceful, laid-back lifestyle with plenty of opportunities for exploration, making it an ideal destination for anyone looking to unwind and enjoy life at a slower pace.

As we leave Hua Hin, we’ll carry with us not only the memories of the stunning beaches, delicious meals, and vibrant local culture, but also the warmth of the community.
